John Hughes

Writer-director who defined 1980s teen cinema. 'Vacation', 'Sixteen Candles', 'The Breakfast Club', 'Weird Science', 'Ferris Bueller', 'Pretty in Pink', 'Planes Trains and Automobiles', 'Uncle Buck', 'Home Alone' – all in about 10 years. Nobody has matched that run before or since. Lived in Chicago, was staunchly anti-Hollywood, and retired early like Larry Bird. That unmatched decade has made him the single most-discussed filmmaker on The Rewatchables.
