Rewatchables Reference

A tribute to the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014), one of the greatest actors of his generation. The hosts pick which role in the movie PSH would have played if he'd been cast. Hoffman was so versatile – equally convincing as a schlubby everyman, a menacing villain, a tortured artist, or a pompous blowhard – that he could plausibly fit into almost any movie.

The category is both a fun thought experiment and a genuine memorial. PSH's ability to steal scenes in supporting roles ('Boogie Nights', 'The Big Lebowski', 'Twister') and carry films as a lead ('Capote', 'The Master') means the hosts often have multiple viable options to debate.

This is one of the newer "evergreen" categories on the podcast, having started as a reader suggestion in the 2025 Rewatchables mailbag episode.
