Best (or worst!) life lessons from the movie
The hosts extract life lessons from the movie – both genuinely useful wisdom and hilariously terrible advice. What can this film teach us about life, love, work, friendship, or survival? The answers range from the sincere to the absurd.
The "worst" life lessons are often the most entertaining: movies are full of characters making choices that would be catastrophically bad in real life but make for great cinema. The category also surfaces the rare genuinely good advice buried in otherwise chaotic movies.
One of the oldest categories in the show's history, first appearing in the 'Heat' 20-Year Anniversary Mega-Pod episode (December 2015) as "Lessons from Heat", which predates the formal Rewatchables launch. After that, lessons appeared in various episodes, like 'The Godfather', 'Goodfellas', 'Casino', but were officially launched in 'Cop Land'.
The award is named after the character of Coach Finstock from 'Teen Wolf'.
The "worst lessons" twist came from a fan suggestion in A 2026 Rewatchables Mailbag, and is named for Mr. Miyagi from 'The Karate Kid'.
