Wendell Mayes
Screenwriter who adapted Brian Garfield's novel into the 'Death Wish' (1974) screenplay. The original novel was much more critical of vigilantism; Garfield called the film 'incendiary.' Sidney Lumet was originally attached to direct with a Jack Lemmon/Henry Fonda pairing that would have been a much more serious drama.
