Penelope Spheeris

Director of 'Wayne's World' (1992). Lorne Michaels picked her because she had primarily made music documentaries ('The Decline of Western Civilization' series) and he wanted a hard-driving musical edge for the film. An unusual choice that worked – the movie grossed $183 million on a $20 million budget. Had a rocky relationship with Mike Myers on set; he reportedly stormed off once over no margarine for his bagel. Myers did not let her direct 'Wayne's World 2'.
