British director who directed 'Death Wish' (1974) and its first two sequels, plus 'The Mechanic' and 'Scorpio' with Bronson. Convinced the studio that casting Bronson would make 'Death Wish' 'a more active and virile architect, and we'll all make a pot full of money.' Had a reputation for being pretty weird. Also did 'The Stone Killer'.
