George Lucas
Director, writer, and producer who created 'Star Wars' (1977) and 'Indiana Jones'. Made 'American Graffiti' first at Coppola's urging, which proved he could write real people. Traded his $500K directing fee for merchandising rights and sequel ownership – arguably the greatest 'bet on yourself' in entertainment history. Created ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) and Skywalker Sound. Sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4 billion.
