The most "year the movie came out" thing

The hosts identify aspects of the movie that most strongly place it in a specific era – the details that instantly date the film to the year it was released. This could be fashion choices, slang, technology (or lack thereof), cultural references, attitudes, or anything else that screams a particular moment in time.

This category celebrates the time-capsule quality of movies. A cell phone the size of a brick, a soundtrack dominated by a now-forgotten one-hit wonder, casual smoking in an office, or a plot that would be resolved in five minutes if texting existed – these are all prime candidates.

This category first came about during the "Rewatchables 99" mini-series that was done for Luminary, framed as the "Most 1999 moment possible" in the 'American Pie' episode. Outside of that series, its first appearance was in the 'New Jack City' episode, but it became a staple of the show much later, in 2024, with 'Twister'.
